The Minister welcomed to the Moncloa, the participants at the 4th Youth Meeting on the Spanish Constitution of 1978

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, met today with 25 students from across Spain who participated in the 4th Youth Meeting on the Spanish Constitution of 1978, a conference to bring these rules closer to people born after the year 2000.

During his talk, Bolaños reminded them that the Constitution of 1978 has been a success that has enabled key democratic advances in our country, and he affirmed that it is still today the best instrument to conquer new rights. For example, he noted that equal marriage or the rights guaranteed by the labour reform or the Law of Climate Change, are protected by articles in the Constitution.

The Minister finished by urging the young people not to be manipulated by those who whitewash the dictatorship because, without the Transition to democracy and the Constitution of 1978, they would not have the rights and freedoms they enjoy today.

The 4th Youth Meeting on the Spanish Constitution of 1978, organized by the Ministry together with the Spanish Youth Council, combines academic sessions on the Magna Carta with visits to the main State institutions. At this edition, participants shall visit, aside from the Moncloa Palace, the Congress of Deputies, the Senate, the Constitutional Court and the House of His Majesty the King.
