The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, met on Tuesday with representatives of the association of substitute judges Concepción Arenal and the association Pro Dignidad de Jueces/as sustitutos/as y Magistrados/as Suplentes

At the two meetings, they analyzed the various provisions of the Law to Expand and Reinforce the Judicial and Prosecutor Careers, including the extraordinary regularization of over one thousand substitute female judges and prosecutors through a competitive examination. This is a long-held demand of this group, made up of 80% women and, at the same time, repeatedly required by the European Commission from Spain.

The extraordinary regularization process contemplated by the law, which is in progress in Congress, consists of a competitive examination that rigorously guarantees respect for the principles of equality, merit and ability.  Substitute judges who do not pass, would have to leave their job and be compensated.

The two meetings were held at the Moncloa Complex and were attended by María Inmaculada Galán and Josefina Molina, of the association Concepción Arenal, Lydia Polo and Carmen Alcayde, of the association Pro Dignidad de Jueces/as Sustitutos/as y Magistrados/as Suplentes, and the Director General for the Public Service of Justice, Verónica Ollé. With the same objective of maintaining a smooth and open dialogue with this group, in September, the Minister also met with the Interim Judicial Platform.
