The Justice Office in the Municipality (henceforth, OJM) is the gateway of access to the Public Service of Justice. These offices provide Justice Administration services in the 7,701 municipalities where they are set up.
Services of the Justice Office in the Municipality
The Justice Offices in the Municipality add new competences to the traditional figure of Courts of Peace, a natural progression toward a more efficient and near Justice. This new structure has been designed to provide the following services:
Connection with the courts: from the OJMs it will be possible to connect with Courts securely and with full legal guarantees. This will avoid having to travel to participate in procedural actions, seek information and obtain copies of legal proceedings, or receive notifications, summons or subpoenas.
Obtaining Justice certificates: the Offices shall enable, by electronic means, to manage certificates, such as criminal records, sexual crimes or wills; submit applications, such as cancelling criminal records, or registering documents.
Access to Civil Registry: the Offices shall be interconnected to the Civil Registry, guaranteeing also data privacy. At the Offices you may obtain a marriage, birth or death certificate; process paperwork; and conduct videoconferences with the Civil Registry units.
Complementary Justice Services: the OJMs enable secure and private videoconferences with bodies related to Justice, such as Offices for Assistance to Crime Victims, Territorial Department of the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, and legal guidance services provided by professional associations.
